FUE Hair Transplants

This is the most popular type of procedure as it’s the least invasive out of the 2. The advantages are that because each hair graft is individually extracted from the donor area, there is no visible scarring. The recovery period is also much shorter with less complications due to the nature of it being less invasive. The partly shaven approach can be done as long as there a clear area of hair loss, not just general thinning. The disadvantage is that you will have to shave your donor area.

FUT Hair Transplants

This method is the “old school” approach as it’s one of the first methods of hair transplantation. It is more invasive because it involves excising a large strip of skin from the back of the head in order to then extract those grafts from it. The advantage is that there is no shaving of the donor area required, so this method is typically more suited to women and transgender patients. The disadvantages are that there is a large linear scar that is left on the back of the head plus the recovery period is longer and there are mo complications due to the nature of the procedure.
